Science

We were doing a science activity today. I have learnt lots of stuff including how to not give yourself cancer. We learnt about rainbows and how there are many different colours that we cant see. We saw different lights and how much powerful UV light can be. We saw the blackest black that absorbs light and can even make u and things invisible.

Once upon a Picture

What is happening in this picture?
The larger mushroom is reading a book to the younger ones.

Do the 2 smaller mushrooms know the larger one?
The larger mushroom was their uncle.

Have they done this before? How do you know?
No. The larger one was babysitting the smaller ones well the parents went to work. How do I know? I was the little mushroom on left.
What is the larger mushroom reading?
A fairy tale.
What kind of thing might you expect to find inside the book?
Pictures and words.

‘Enoki’ is the type of mushroom (it is the Japanese name for it, as it’s highly popular in Japan). Are the smaller mushrooms of the same species?
Baby enoki mushrooms. To get color they have to do a good deed.
What do you think might be in the background?
Trees, flowers, the stuff you might find in a forest

It was that day that everything changed. It started off like normal, we woke up got ready and just before Mum and Dad left for work they told us some devastating news. “ Your babysitter is no longer working for us her mother has fallen horribly ill and has gone to live London to look after her,” Mum said forcing back tears. Ada was an awesome babysitter she would make yummy food for lunch, take us for wonderful walks in the park, but now that was all over. “So who is going to look after us well you work?” My brother Harold asked. “ Uncle Clarence will look after you till we find another babysitter,” Mum replied.
“ When will he get here,” I asked
As soon as I said that the doorbell rang.
Ding dong, ding dong.
Harold and I sprinted to and door to open it.
We welcomed Uncle Clarence and Mum and Dad quickly ran off to work.
When Mum and Dads car could not be heard in the distances Uncle asked as “What do you to do kids!” We both wanted to go to the park just like what Ada did with us, but Uncle didn't sound convinced.
“ How about instead of the park we take a walk in the wood and when we get there I will read you a book.” “ But Mum and Dad have forbidden us to go in there” I protested. They had told us heaps of stories about the animals the lurched in the forest. The scariest one was about the catrea is was a mix of the cat and squirrel to of our worst enemies.
But Uncle Clarence wasn't giving up, he started getting angry.
“ Well I'm looking after you, you must do everything I say!”
Harold and I took no chances and decided to stay quiet.
We followed him into the forest, keeping close behind him, we reached a few stones sat down and Uncle Clarence read. Slowly I and my brother drifted off to sleep.

Camp recount

The bus trip was boring, long, bumpy, and the scenery was old. Enough of that stuff let’s fast forward this trip to the exciting part. We were walking along the sandy beaches of Serpentine. Our class stopped throw our bags onto the ground and started a game of chain tag and seaweed this was really hard as we were running on the sand. We walked a bit further picked up rubbish walked a bit more, STOP RIGHT THERE !!! This is too boring I shall do you a favor and skip the miserable and long walk.

It was now or never we ran as fast as our legs would carry us to get our rain jackets and from there we were warm and dry. But now we had to challenge ourselves by building and lighting a fire in the rain. We succeeded in the challenge, buried our fire, and made the delicious tasting damper on the other fire. Mine was cooked to perfection- if I do say so myself it was the best damper I have ever made, actually.

The next thing we did was swimming. It was so cold but so fun. We played lots of games until my finger and toes went completely numb. The games were awesome, tug of war was my favorite though. We won most of the rounds though, GO GIRLS!!! Once we dried off and got warm we did more survival challenges.

We were going to build our hut a little differently to the others. Of course, all the other huts were teepees, but ours, ours was going to be different, ours was going to be the best, the winner of them all... We struggled to build an underground hut.
The result was not as good as I expected it to be though, but it still looked really cool.

After that, we had to do more walking until my dreams came true and we arrived at camp. The flies we were sleeping in were already set up. We put out our beds and made ourselves at home. We did a few more activities and before we knew it, it was dinner. We had to cook our own dinner, which was Spag bol, and it was delicious! After the yummy dinner, we set off to play spotlight and walk through a nightline. The nightline was sooooooo scary, especially when someone jump-scared me. Once I finished that, I had almost lost my voice fully. After my horrifying experience, I set off to play spotlight. I was in for the first round, it was really easy to spot people as there were not many hiding spots.
Once that was over and done with it was time for bed. Oh boy, how am I supposed to explain how horrible that was! The temperature was appalling!

I finally got to sleep but only had like 2 hours of it.

We got up at 6.30 in the morning to do exercise. Well, the running was fun but the getting up early was not! Breakfast was porridge it was really yummy at first but after about 3 spoons it was enough. I threw it away and my problems were solved.

A little later in the day, we played a few games and then the one and only Ocean Olympics came on. We played lots of games and my favorite had to be the egg catch. After lots and lots of fun challenging games. We won a trophy and lots of fruit bursts. Now it was time to leave this camp with loads of fun memories.
